8 milliards F CFA à Bakel et 1 % de taxe sur les paiements en espèces : Guem Sa Bopp attaque sur deux fronts
The Guem Sa Bopp movement is taking a stand in the matter of the 8 billion CFA francs intended for the disaster-stricken population of Bakel. Faced with suspicions of embezzlement and mismanagement surrounding this matter, the movement led by opposition leader Bougane Guèye Dany has announced that it has filed a complaint with the Judicial and Financial Pool.
Furthermore, in a press release published this Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Guem Sa Bopp is now calling for the creation of a parliamentary commission of inquiry to "shed full light on the use of the 8 billion, identify those responsible and restore trust between the State and citizens."
According to the movement, this approach is not a political calculation, but a "republican and moral act" aimed at protecting public resources and defending the people of Bakel.
Challenge to a new tax on cash payments
In the same statement, Guem Sa Bopp also protested against the new 1% tax on cash payments in supermarkets recently announced by the government. The movement considers this measure "unfair, illegal, and economically absurd," believing it constitutes double taxation that further penalizes consumers already weakened by the high cost of living.
To counter this decision, Guem Sa Bopp plans to engage in consultations with consumer organizations and to refer the matter to the Supreme Court, through a group of lawyers, as early as Thursday, October 23, 2025. The movement is also considering a joint citizens' front with the Nio Lank and Rappel à l'ordre platforms.
"Any measure that unfairly weighs on citizens will find its counterpoint in mobilization and legal action," warns the movement, which promises to remain vigilant.

Bougane j'aime bien votre parcours et ce que vous avez réalisé dans le pays. Ne serait-ce pour les emplois que ta créé, mais parfois tu déconne. Je ne suis plus avec pastef mais les justifications données a propos des 8milliards, par le ministre de l'assainissement, lors de la dernière communication du gouvernement me rassurent. En fait, ca na pas été distribué entièrement par transfert d'argent directement aux bénéficiaires. La majeure partie a été repartie entre 3 ou 4 ministère pour la logistique des interventions immediates a mener sur le terrain. Intérieur, assainissement, infrastructures et même agriculture. Ex: pour l'agriculture, le déblocage des mécanismes financier et techniques pour permettre a des agriculteurs de certains zones de pratiquer la culture de variétés compatibles aux conditions hydrologiques des sols apres le retrait des eaux. Et jen passé.....
