Affaire 7TV : Adji Mergane Kanouté juge l'intervention de la gendarmerie "prévisible" et justifie l'action de l'État
Former MP for the Benno Bokk Yaakar (BBY) coalition, Adji Mergane Kanouté, has spoken out on the controversy surrounding the arrest of journalist Maïmouna Ndour Faye following the announcement of an interview with Madiambal Diagne, who is the subject of an arrest warrant. Contrary to those who criticize the state's actions, she believes that "the police raid on the 7TV premises was predictable; the opposite would have surprised us."
While the former MP expresses her solidarity with journalist Madiambal Diagne and his family, she also emphasizes the need to respect institutions.
Adji Mergane Kanouté presents an argument centered on the journalist's legal situation to contest the channel's editorial decision: "We live in a Republic and we must respect the justice system of our country. Journalist Madiambal cannot be considered a political analyst given that he is facing legal proceedings and an international arrest warrant has been issued against him. Let's be fair in our analyses."
Continuing her analysis, Adji Mergane Kanouté established a direct link between the firmness of the current action and the defeat of her former coalition. She believes that the "laxity" of the old regime contributed to its downfall: "At certain times, we were unable to take decisive and swift action. This greatly contributed to the fall of the regime to which we belonged," she lamented.
