Assemblée nationale : El Malick Ndiaye annonce sa démission !
El Malick Ndiaye, the President of the National Assembly, has just announced his resignation. He published the news on his digital platforms. Below is the full text of his message.
"My dear compatriots, after deep reflection, matured in silence, responsibility and a sense of the State, I have decided to resign from my duties as President of the National Assembly of Senegal.
This decision stems from a personal choice, guided above all by my conception of institutions, public responsibility and the greater interest of the Nation.
Since my election as head of the National Assembly, I have devoted all my energy, together with all the deputies and the parliamentary administration, to strengthening our institution, consolidating the principles of transparency, control and modernization, as well as to enhancing the influence of the Senegalese Parliament on the national and international stages.
I give thanks to God for the immense honor bestowed upon me to serve Senegal in one of the highest offices of our Republic.
I express my deep gratitude to the members of parliament from both the majority and the opposition, to the Bureau of the National Assembly, to the parliamentary administration, to the members of my cabinet and to the Senegalese people for the trust, respect and spirit of collaboration that I have benefited from throughout this mission.
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the activists, leaders, and supporters of the PASTEF party, on whose list I was nominated. Their unwavering commitment, their loyalty to the ideals of transformation, and their trust have been a constant source of strength, high standards, and responsibility for me.
As I leave this high office, I remain deeply convinced that the stability of our institutions, respect for republican dialogue, the preservation of civil peace, national cohesion and the best interests of Senegal must remain, in all circumstances, our common compass.
I will continue, with the same commitment and the same loyalty to the Senegalese people, my work in service of our democracy, our Republic and our collective ambition for Senegal.
In public office, as in the trials of national life, there are times when the country's best interests demand that we prioritize integrity, discernment, and a sense of duty. It is in this spirit, and this spirit alone, that I have made this decision.
May God protect Senegal, bless our people, and guide us towards greater peace, justice, unity, and prosperity.
