Assemblée nationale: première réunion de Sonko avec le bureau, deux anciens ministres réintégrés
The new president of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, chaired his first meeting of the Bureau of the parliamentary institution on Friday since taking office.
This meeting, which marks the effective start of parliamentary activities under his presidency, brought together the members of the Bureau to discuss issues relating to the functioning of the National Assembly and the organization of its work.
According to information released after the meeting, discussions focused on institutional priorities as well as general guidelines to frame the activities of the National Assembly in the coming weeks.
The Bureau also examined the reinstatement requests submitted by former ministers Amadou Ba and Momath Talla Ndao. Following its deliberations, it reinstated them in accordance with the provisions of Article 54 of the Constitution and Article 124 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly.
This decision allows the two elected officials to regain their seats within the parliamentary institution, in compliance with the procedures provided for by the applicable laws.
Friday's meeting is an important step in setting up the governance structure of the National Assembly under the presidency of Ousmane Sonko and in preparing the upcoming parliamentary agenda.
