[Billet d'humour] «Sonko moy Diomaye», la magie s’éteint ?
In 2024, "Diomaye moy Sonko" sounded like a divine equation: one body, two heads, zero divergence. Two years later, we discover that even steel forged in prisons rusts, especially when it goes from sweat to the air conditioning of the palace and… the small palace.
Today, Senegalese people are witnessing, popcorn in hand, a home-based cold war: no missiles, but communiqués; no tanks, but “alignments”.
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, quietly, upholds the Constitution. His charismatic Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, maintains the "Revolution." Two legitimacies, one seat for an oversized ego.
On Sunday, Sonko outlined a "gentle, reasonable cohabitation" before Pastef. Gentle as a velvet sword. In other words, the key to the Palace is constitutional, but the key ring remains partisan, not to say political.
And beware of those Pastef supporters who dream of a "stronger" Prime Minister. In Senegal, they no longer dismiss candidates, they refine them.
Meanwhile, the Diomaye President coalition refuses to dissolve. Even better, it is convening its general assembly under the watchful eye of Aminata Touré. And of course, with the announced presence of the former secretary general of Pastef. Beyond the pompous slogans, politics will always remain politics.
Each consolidates its founding texts while trust, for its part, seeks its birth certificate.
November 2025 was a month of symbols. Sonko filled a demonstrative "Téra-meeting"; Diomaye practiced royal silence before taking a decisive action. In the meantime, much had happened.
Sonko swears he is attached neither to the position nor the title, ready to return to opposition if his principles waver. We then discover an exquisite paradox: to govern in order not to betray, to threaten to leave in order to better remain. The fusion has given way to controlled fission.
It remains to be seen whether the atom will hold until the next season… or whether “Diomaye moy Sonko” will end up as a sound archive, somewhere between militant nostalgia and state realism.
