Centenaire d'Abdoulaye Wade : Un appel solennel pour décréter mai 2026 « Mois Abdoulaye Wade »

The leader of the "And Sopi Thiès" movement is proposing a nationwide celebration that would reach all levels of society, from primary schools to universities, through archival exhibitions retracing his life, his struggles, and his political thought.
Passing on knowledge to better build the future
For the initiators of this project, it is essential that Senegalese and African youth understand that the freedoms they enjoy today are the result of long, patient, and often costly struggles. Honoring Abdoulaye Wade is a reminder that democracy is never definitively achieved; it is built, defended, and passed down through generations.

Solemn appeal to the President of the Republic
Given the historical, intellectual and democratic importance of this heritage, the leader of "And Sopi Thiès" believes it is legitimate for the State of Senegal to take ownership of this celebration.
It is in this republican spirit that he respectfully appeals to the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, to favorably consider the proposal to declare May 2026 "Abdoulaye Wade Month." Such a decision would allow this national figure to receive recognition commensurate with his impact on the contemporary history of Senegal.
