Code électoral : Takku Wallu accuse la présidence de l’Assemblée de défier Bassirou Diomaye Faye
In a statement released this Friday, the Takku Wallu Sénégal parliamentary group strongly criticized the second reading procedure for the law amending the Electoral Code. This reaction follows President Bassirou Diomaye Faye's request to re-examine the amendments affecting Articles L29 and L30 of the text.
The opposition parliamentary group is outraged by the speed with which the President of the National Assembly convened the legislative bodies. In the space of a single day, the Bureau (10 a.m.), the Conference of Presidents (4 p.m.), and the Committee on Laws (5 p.m.) were all convened, before a plenary session scheduled for the following day at 11 a.m.
According to Takku Wallu Senegal, this acceleration constitutes a "clear violation" of the institution's internal regulations. The group specifies that even in the case of a declared emergency, such a procedure should take a minimum of four days.
The statement condemns what it calls the "forceful pressure" exerted by the Speaker of the National Assembly, accusing him of wanting to engage in a "political power struggle with the President of the Republic." The members of the parliamentary group refuse to be associated with what they call a "sham" and warn against the manipulation of the National Assembly for the benefit of a "small group."
For Takku Wallu Senegal, the situation is alarming: an institutional crisis has now taken hold, bringing the political struggle into the heart of the assembly, to the detriment of the exclusive interest of the Senegalese people.
