Dialogue national : Oumar Sarr pose ses conditions et lâche ses vérités au régime
The coordinator of the Front for the Defense of Democracy and the Republic (FDR), Oumar Sarr, has laid down several political conditions for his participation in the national dialogue announced by the Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. During his appearance on the "Grand Jury" program on RFM radio this Sunday, May 17, 2026, he first indicated that he did not yet have the necessary information to assess the President's approach. "We don't yet know how he intends to organize this dialogue or who he will invite," he explained.
The first condition set by Oumar Sarr therefore concerns the clarity of the format and themes.
According to him, it is essential that participants know in advance the topics that will be discussed, particularly institutional reforms, civil liberties, and economic issues. "If this is an attempt to divide the opposition, we will not participate," he warns. Conversely, the mayor of Dagana is open to participation if the dialogue focuses on issues deemed serious and crucial for the country's development. "If it concerns freedoms, political reforms, the functioning of democracy, or the country's economy, we can respond," he clarifies.
The other condition mentioned is coordination within the opposition. Oumar Sarr believes that participation in such a framework should ideally be discussed and harmonized within existing political coalitions, particularly opposition groups. Finally, he emphasizes that no final decision can be made without a formal invitation and prior clarification of the mechanism.
