Diomaye chez la mère de Sonko : « La seule lecture qu’on peut y voir… » (Momar Thiam)
"It's quite a strong act," says Momar Thiam, referring to the visit (yesterday) of the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, to the mother of Ousmane Sonko, on the sidelines of his economic tour in Casamance.
"He went to visit the mother of his PM who, beyond that, is his partner in crime and his friend," emphasizes the political communication expert who points out that "the only interpretation one can see is appeasement."
Describing the personalities of the duo at the top of the executive branch, Mr. Thiam believes that we are facing "a quiet force that is building itself (Diomaye) and a political force that is only good and eloquent in adversity (Sonko)."
"You need both to run a country. They may not agree on certain aspects, but agree on the essentials. On one side you have the one who calms things down and on the other, the one who fans the flames in the right direction to say: 'We must stick to the project.' Now, it's a question of approach for the rest," he analyzes.
When Diomaye goes to visit Sonko's mother, Mr. Thiam confides, "we are inevitably in the realm of emotion, courtesy, and respect for values. All of this put together creates a reservoir of goodwill that will be attached to the image of President Diomaye, who is not always in the 'saying everything' or 'going all in' mode."
"He (Diomaye) is in appeasement while the other (Sonko) is in soft-confrontation to tell his truths, because it is his DNA," he emphasizes, as reported by Sud FM.
