Évincé pour «son appartenance politique» : L’enseignant Mamadou Diène tire sur Moustapha Guirassy
A teacher from Thiès, Mamadou Diène, denounces the arbitrary cancellation of his appointment as superintendent at the former CEM Fahu high school. Mr. Diène was dismissed from his position following a viral video by a Pastef activist stating that he should not be appointed because he is not from the ruling party.
In an open letter addressed to the Minister of National Education and the authorities of the Republic, he demands compensation, castigates the political pressures which led to this decision and calls for respect for the merit and neutrality of the Administration.
OPEN LETTER TO THE MINISTER OF NATIONAL EDUCATION AND TO THE AUTHORITIES OF THE REPUBLIC
Subject: Challenging an unjust decision and seeking redress
My name is Mamadou Diène, a teacher, civil servant, and Senegalese citizen. Today, I take up my pen to speak out for the truth. A cry for dignity. A cry for justice.
On August 27, 2024, a service order No. 2540, signed by Mr. Moustapha Mamba Guirassy, Minister of National Education, assigned me to the duties of steward at the former CEM Fahu high school in Thiès. This appointment, in accordance with administrative rules, represented a deserved recognition of my commitment and my competence.
But barely had this decision been made public than Ms. Fatima Zahra, coordinator of the Pastef Grand-Thiès unit, intervened on September 4, 2024, to challenge my taking office. Her only argument: I am not a member of Pastef. A political attack, devoid of any professional basis, which put undue pressure on the ministry.
Under this pressure, Minister Guirassy cancelled my appointment by a new service order No. 2791, signed on September 6, 2024. A brutal dismissal, without administrative justification, without fault, without misappropriation, without reproach. A deeply humiliating decision.
Faced with this injustice, I chose the institutional route. I was received by the Minister, who acknowledged his error, apologized, and pledged to rectify this mistake. This promise was made publicly, in the presence of his No. 1 Technical Advisor, Mr. Mamadou Moustapha Thiam.
But since that day, silence. No follow-up. No reparations. No commitments kept.
I speak today, one year later, not out of resentment, but out of duty. Because the word of a minister binds the State. It binds the Republic. It binds the citizens' trust in their institutions.
I am a teacher. I am a man of principle. And I refuse to allow my career to be sacrificed on the altar of partisan considerations. I refuse to allow merit to be ignored in favor of allegiance. I refuse to allow public administration to become an instrument of political punishment.
The administration must be guided by fairness and respect for the texts. It must transcend any political, religious, ethnic, or ideological affiliation. This is the price we pay to preserve the trust of citizens and the stability of our institutions.
This letter is also an appeal to the educational community, to civil society, to teachers' unions and to all those who still believe in a just, transparent and dignified Republic.
I'm not asking for a favor. I'm asking for reparations. I'm asking that commitments made be honored. I'm asking that the dignity of state officials be respected.
I will no longer remain silent. For silence breeds impunity. And words, when spoken truthfully, can become a lever for justice.
Please accept, Mr. Minister, Ladies and Gentlemen of the authorities, the expression of my deep respect and my attachment to the values of our Republic.

Dommage
