Foncier : Serigne Mboup conteste vigoureusement les accusations de spoliation
Accused in the press of involvement in a land grabbing case in Dakar, the mayor of Kaolack and businessman, Serigne Mboup, responded firmly through an official statement. He wishes to clarify the situation in order to "enlighten public opinion" and categorically rejects the allegations of illegal occupation and forgery of public documents relayed following an investigation by the Urban Security Division.
According to his communications department, the dispute concerns the current location of the Touba Sandaga shopping center. Mr. Mboup clarifies that "this site was legally acquired in the late 1990s, as part of the liquidation of the BATA company," well before the events now alleged. The businessman asserts that he possesses a "valid land title, issued in accordance with applicable laws and regulations" following transparent administrative and notarial procedures.
Serigne Mboup refutes any fraudulent maneuvers and reiterates that his career has been marked by "strict respect for legality, ethics, and the institutions of the Republic." The statement expresses deep concern regarding the "flippancy of the accusations being circulated," which damage the honor of a public figure without any judicial decision having been rendered.
Finally, the mayor of Kaolack warns that "all legal avenues remain open to address any attempt at defamation or abusive accusations." This statement comes as other figures mentioned in this case, such as Cheikh Kanté, have also expressed their intention to take legal action to clear their names.
As a reminder, the case, revealed by the daily newspaper L'Observateur, concerns a complaint from the heirs of the late Mamadou Diagne regarding the alleged spoliation of several hectares on the road to Rufisque and in Grand-Dakar.
The plaintiffs denounce the land grabbing through fraudulently obtained land titles. Besides Cheikh Kanté, other figures such as Abdoulaye Dia (Senico) and Serigne Mboup (Mayor of Kaolack) are also targeted by this legal action.
