Guédiawaye : Le préfet interdit la marche du Collectif pour la libération de Lat Diop
The prefect of Guédiawaye, Ahmadou Coumba Ndiaye, banned the march that the Collective for the Liberation of President Lat Diop planned to organize this Saturday, October 25.
Indeed, the prefectural authorities invoked, through the decree published this Friday, October 24, "real threats of disturbances to public order" as well as "risks of obstruction of the free movement of goods and people" to justify this ban.
According to the official document, the demonstration, initiated by Messrs. Djiby Fall, Boubacar Kane and Serigne Fallou Sow, was to be held from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the route from the Mor Fadam roundabout (Cheikh Wade district) to the Wakhinane Nimzatt esplanade.
Lat Diop, former director general of the Senegalese National Lottery (Lonase), has been detained since September 26, 2024. He was placed in custody following an investigation into the alleged embezzlement of 8 billion CFA francs.
Since his incarceration, several requests for provisional release have been submitted by his lawyers, but they have all been rejected by the courts.
