The dismissal of Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko late last week has not gone unnoticed by Charles Blé Goudé. In a video posted on his Facebook page, the leader of the Pan-African Congress for Justice and Equality of Peoples (COJEP) stated that he does not consider this political event a failure of the Diomaye-Sonko partnership, because, in reality, the initial objective of this duo was to seize power. And this objective was brilliantly achieved.
Pastef won the 2024 presidential election by a landslide, bringing about a change of power at the highest level of the Senegalese state. The real problem, according to Charles Blé Goudé, lay in the secondary objective.
This secondary objective, from his perspective, is "the management of power and egos, the management of collaboration between the two personalities." At this stage, it's a failure, the Ivorian politician acknowledges.
In summary, he believes that the Diomaye-Sonko tandem should not be considered a total failure, but a partial one.
“In Senegal, they tried something. Don’t be afraid to try. You can try and encounter limits, weaknesses. We can say that the strategy used by Pastef was partially successful, but there are things to correct, to improve,” said Charles Blé Goudé.
