Mimi Touré : « Nous savons apporter la réplique politique, mais le pays a besoin de calme »
Support in a calm and measured way. This is the approach the Diomaye President coalition says it has chosen to support the actions of the Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. Meeting in General Assembly this Saturday, March 7, 2026, the coalition is currently holding a Council of Leaders, bringing together the heads of member parties and movements, as part of the restructuring process initiated in recent months.
The meeting, overseen by Aminata Touré, provided an opportunity to review the internal structure of the coalition and the steps taken to consolidate this political group supporting the President of the Republic. "We are politicians and we know how to respond politically to those who engage in baseless accusations or slander. But we have chosen to support the President peacefully for the good of the country," declared Aminata Touré, who then spoke to explain the program's agenda.
Indeed, faced with criticism leveled at the government, the coalition claims to be adopting a measured stance. Mimi Touré acknowledged that political leaders have the means to respond to the attacks, but that they have made a strategic choice. According to Touré, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye encourages the coalition to be more open, but within the bounds of ethical and political principles. "The president advocates for the coalition to be open ethically, without getting bogged down in petty squabbles," she stated.
Mimi Touré also clarified that the meeting primarily brought together the leaders of the parties and movements comprising the coalition. According to her, the Diomaye President coalition now includes more than 600 political parties and movements. She also emphasized the significant involvement of local elected officials. "We have 280 mayors in the coalition, and 200 were keen to be present today," she stated, praising the mobilization of local leaders who came to participate in this general assembly.
The coalition supervisor also addressed the origins of the ongoing restructuring process. She recalled that on November 7th, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye asked her to reorganize and consolidate the coalition, a structure to which he attaches particular importance. Mimi Touré emphasized that she had held this role well before the president's election. "I held this position even before President Diomaye was elected. Some people tend to forget that," she stated.
Reflecting on the actions taken since the presidential request, the former Prime Minister emphasized the proactive nature of the work undertaken. "It wasn't just secretarial work. There was action involved. Some people approached us, but we also met with several officials," she explained. She also mentioned the validation of the documents governing the coalition, a step deemed essential to clarify its operations and strengthen its internal cohesion.
