Réforme du Code électoral : Thierno Alassane Sall maintient la pression pour une saisine du Conseil constitutionnel
The debate surrounding the reform of Articles L.29 and L.30 of the Electoral Code continues to divide the Senegalese political class. While independent members of parliament recently announced their decision not to refer the matter to the Constitutional Council, Thierno Alassane Sall has taken the opposite stance, asserting that this option remains fully viable.
The MP insists that discussions with his parliamentary colleagues continue in order to establish the necessary conditions for a formal referral. He therefore calls on all MPs, regardless of their political affiliation, to join this initiative, which he considers a democratic imperative.
Drawing on a quote from Mamadou Dia, "one does not renounce a duty," he defends an approach he presents as republican and non-partisan. According to him, appealing to the Constitutional Court is neither about supporting nor opposing a political camp, but about guaranteeing respect for the Constitution.
He believes it is the duty of parliamentarians to use all available legal means to challenge its validity.
