Santé à Mbao : Abdou Karim Sall inaugure un poste moderne et renforce l’offre de soins de proximité
Petit Mbao experienced a memorable day on Monday, December 29, 2025, with the official inauguration of its new health post. This highly symbolic event for the municipality of Mbao marked a definitive end to the era of an old building that had become too dilapidated to adequately meet the health needs of the population.
The colorful, lively, and festive ceremony was presided over by Abdou Karim Sall, the mayor of Mbao, in the presence of his colleagues from the municipal council and a large crowd of residents of all ages. Women, young people, dignitaries, traditional leaders, and healthcare professionals turned out in force, giving the event a popular and unifying dimension.
Faced with the advanced state of disrepair of the old health post, the municipality took the initiative to demolish it and rebuild a new one, entirely financed by the municipal budget. The laying of the foundation stone in August 2023 launched a construction project initially estimated at 83 million CFA francs, before an additional 15 million francs brought the overall cost of the project to over 98 million CFA francs.
The new health post in Petit Mbao will be distinguished by its modern infrastructure, functional facilities, and healthier environment, improving both patient care and working conditions for medical staff. This represents a major step forward in strengthening local healthcare.
With this achievement, the municipality of Mbao now has 5 functional health posts. Two others are currently under construction, one in Keur Mbaye “Diégui Péage” and the other in Keur Mbaye Fall “Rue 10”, located in the Holding Baobab district, confirming the municipality's commitment to bringing health services closer to the population in a sustainable way.
Speaking to thunderous applause, Abdou Karim Sall announced that "2026 will be the year of inaugurations," before warmly thanking the people of Mbao, the dignitaries, the village chiefs, the traditional authorities, as well as the Municipal Council and Bureau for their continued commitment. The mayor concluded by inviting the residents to the inauguration of the new Mbao town hall very soon.
In Petit Mbao, health has thus become a central pillar of local development, driven by action, anticipation and governance resolutely focused on the well-being of citizens.
