Soutien au chef de l’État : Serigne Guèye Diop réaffirme l’engagement de la coalition présidentielle
Serigne Guèye Diop paid a strong tribute to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, praising his leadership and reaffirming his commitment to the Diomaye-President coalition, which, he said, is dedicated to continuing the construction of a Senegal founded on sovereignty, justice, and dignity. This took place within the framework of the ongoing meeting of the council of leaders.
“Those of us who work with the Head of State can attest: he is a courageous, intelligent, fair man, deeply committed to peace,” he declared. According to him, the President’s first actions have illustrated this vision, particularly through his diplomatic initiatives on the African continent. He believes these steps reflect a desire to build a Senegal that is respected on the international stage, but also attentive to the realities and expectations of its neighbors.
Serigne Guèye Diop also praised the president's role at the regional level, recalling that his appointment as head of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is, in his view, a significant event for Senegal.
Looking back on the genesis of the presidential coalition, he recalled that it was the president himself, then still in prison, who had called for building a broad political alliance in 2024. "We knew that the Senegal of tomorrow could not be built without him. That is why we chose to support him with determination and without any ambiguity," he affirmed.
For Serigne Guèye Diop, this coalition embodies a new hope for the country, but it must not be limited to the conquest of power. “Supporting a coalition doesn’t just mean winning an election. It means winning elections and, above all, building a future,” he explained. This future, according to him, must be founded on strong values: integrity, responsibility, work, solidarity, and justice. He specifically mentioned the country’s energy resources, calling for their local processing to generate jobs for young people and women.
“Our country is rich: rich in its women, rich in its men, but also rich in its natural resources, particularly gas and oil. These resources should not only benefit those abroad; they must serve the development of Senegal,” he asserted. According to him, one of the country’s major challenges is precisely to transform these resources under the president’s leadership in order to accelerate job creation and strengthen national economic sovereignty.
