Waly Diouf Bodiang répond à Pape Matar Diallo
The debate surrounding the legitimacy of political activities during a national emergency has been reignited by a strong reaction from Waly Diouf Bodiang, Director General of the Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD). In a statement, he sharply rebuked analyst and columnist Pape Matar Diallo, who suggested suspending politics until problems remained unresolved.
Waly Diouf Bodiang rejected the argument of a "political pause" which he considers biased.
The Port Director General refuted the idea that the political demonstrations would affect the management of state affairs. He stated that "the meeting has no impact on government work or the handling of emergencies of any kind."
For him, politics is, on the contrary, the very essence of the current commitment of those in power: "It is precisely to address these difficulties that we are in politics, without the latter in any way exonerating us from our state responsibilities."
Waly Diouf Bodiang also questioned the sincerity of Pape Matar Diallo's position, accusing him of specifically targeting the current regime. He described this stance as "new on your part, [and] specially tailored for Pastef."
Continuing his scathing criticism, the Port Director General condemned the time Diallo spent attacking the government: "Notwithstanding the difficulties you mention, you have the time to waste trying to tarnish the regime's image without objectivity."
Concluding on a defiant note, Waly Diouf Bodiang issued a warning to his opponent: "That too will not fly," before ironically inviting him to the rally: "I invite you to the meeting and will send you a green, yellow or...red card."

Suis apolitique nak
