Fièvre de la vallée du rift : 211 cas, 21 décès et 6 régions désormais touchées
The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene provided an update this Friday on the development of the Rift Valley Fever (RVF) and MPOX epidemics. It reported that since the outbreak began, Senegal has recorded 211 confirmed cases, including 21 deaths and 162 recoveries.
Also, after Dakar, which recorded one case, Kaolack also has one patient. This brings the number of affected regions to six. But so far, Saint-Louis is the most affected with 193 cases.
For MPOX, or Monkey Pox, since the first case was confirmed on August 22, 2025, six confirmed cases and two probable cases have been recorded. All are located in the Dakar region. Eight people have recovered, 22 contacts are being followed up, and no deaths have been reported.
The Ministry calls on the population to be vigilant, to scrupulously respect preventive measures, and to actively collaborate with health workers and community relays to contain these epidemics.
