Amidou Diédhiou reconduit à la tête du SELS pour un nouveau mandat de 4 ans
The Senegalese Independent Teachers' Union (SELS) held its congress this weekend. Following the meeting, outgoing Secretary General Amidou Diédhiou was reappointed for a further four-year term as head of the union.
This reappointment reflects the renewed confidence of the congress participants in their leader, who has led the SELS over the past few years in a context marked by social negotiations, educational reforms and persistent demands in the education sector.
By taking over the reins of the union, Amidou Diédhiou has pledged to continue the fight to improve teachers' working conditions and defend the achievements of education personnel.
The congress also served as a forum to take stock of the past term and chart new prospects. The delegates emphasized the need to maintain trade union unity and strengthen dialogue with public authorities in order to effectively address the challenges facing the Senegalese education system.
With this new mandate, Amidou Diédhiou will have the heavy responsibility of consolidating the achievements, but also of carrying out new reforms for a more efficient and inclusive Senegalese school.

Ayant eu le privilège de cheminer à ses côtés, j’ai pu apprécier ses qualités exceptionnelles : son intégrité, son sens de l’écoute, sa capacité à rassembler et à défendre avec conviction les intérêts de tous.
