NGOUDIANE : L'apprenti chauffeur, M. Thiaw, achète des moutons volés, les garde en brousse et les retrouvent chez le chef du village
The apprentice driver, Mr. Thiaw, 23, appeared before the Thiès court for flagrant offenses on charges of receiving stolen goods. He is accused of having bought the three sheep belonging to B. Fall that were stolen.
On the day of the events in Ngoudiane, old Mr. Faye found the three sheep tied up in the bush. He then took them to the village chief. That's when Mr. Thiaw came to claim them. To get to the bottom of it, the village chief conducted an investigation which revealed that the sheep had been stolen.
Their rightful owner, B. Fall, came forward to claim them. He then filed a complaint with the gendarmerie against Mr. Thiaw for receiving stolen goods. He was remanded in custody.
Appearing before the Thiès court for flagrant offenses this Friday, Mr. Thiaw stated that it was the shepherd Ameth who sold him the three sheep for 125,000 CFA francs. He explained that he needed 140,000 CFA francs to obtain his driver's license, but only had 125,000 CFA francs. It was to reach this required sum that he acquired the sheep, intending to resell them for 140,000 CFA francs or more to cover the cost of his driver's license.
Witness Mr. Faye reiterated that he found the sheep in the bush. He revealed that when he asked Mr. Thiaw about the origin of these animals, he told him that a man named Serigne had bought them.
For his part, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law.
The verdict is expected soon to determine the defendant's guilt in light of these accusations.
