Police : Des boxes d'accueil et d'orientation pour rapprocher les citoyens de leurs commissariats
The reception area at police stations in Senegal is undergoing a major transformation. In Guédiawaye, Point E, Parcelles Assainies, and many other locations, users are discovering an innovation that significantly simplifies their procedures: reception and orientation booths installed at the entrance to police stations.
Testimonies that speak for themselves
In Guédiawaye, the reception desk impresses with its efficiency. "When I came, I was welcomed and directed. I had no difficulty. I'm proud of the police. It's a very good initiative," said one user, recalling that in the past, long queues and the heat made the experience particularly trying.
The same observation is made at the Point E police station, where the welcoming and adapted reception area has radically changed the situation. "I came, it didn't take me long. It was quick. I really commend this work," confides a foreign resident, happy to see that the national police are putting the legendary Senegalese téranga into practice.
An inclusive and accessible approach
At Parcelles Assainies, innovation is also praised, but the police services are going further by taking remarkable initiatives to help the elderly and people with reduced mobility. Access ramps and adapted crossings are gradually being installed, demonstrating an inclusive vision of public service.
All these reforms are part of the ambitious vision of the Director General of the National Police, Inspector General Mame Seydou Ndour, concretely implemented by Divisional Commissioner Ndiarra Sène, Director of Public Security (DSP).
The objective is threefold: to provide a warm welcome, clear guidance, and substantially improve the quality of service provided to citizens.
"The reception boxes are part of a global process aimed at professionalizing the reception function in police stations," explains the Director of Public Security, emphasizing the extent of this modernization process.
Training and professionalization of staff
To achieve these ambitious goals, specialized training sessions are regularly organized. The most recent was held from April 7 to 11, 2025, at the National Police Training Directorate and brought together personnel from Dakar and several regions of the country.
These training courses specifically aim to strengthen agents' listening, empathy and responsiveness.
"We have gained a lot of knowledge that we will share within our departments. This will significantly improve the way we work," a newly trained police officer enthusiastically emphasizes.
Beyond a simple practical reorganization, reception thus becomes a truly central mission of the police institution. It constitutes, in fact, the first contact between the citizen and the institution, a crucial moment that can determine the overall perception of public service.
Courtesy, rapid guidance and appropriate care – particularly for vulnerable people, women victims of violence, children and the elderly – are now at the heart of this innovative system.
Towards a strengthened community police force
With these new practices, the National Police is resolutely pursuing its policy of proximity, seeking to sustainably strengthen trust and collaboration with the population. The results, already visible on the ground, demonstrate a decisive shift towards a more humane, more efficient public police service that is truly closer to the concerns of citizens.

Bravo à une police nationale citoyenne, au service des usagers, à leur écoute, sans brutalités ni vexations.
L'éducation, la politesse, un accueil correct et la neutralité doivent être le socle des relations entre les services publics et les citoyens.

Moi j'ai une interpellation aux niveau de la police des frontières à l'aéroport. Quand on revient de voyage en tant que senegalais, il est quand mal inspiré de faire faire la même file d'attente un citoyen sénégalais et les autres non citoyens.
Dans un pays qui se respecte on privilégie ses nationaux et on ne les mélange pas avec des centaines de voyageurs étrangers qui doivent montrer patte blanche pour rentrer dans le pays avec tout ce que cela implique comme temps de vérification.
Pourtant à Yoff c'est ce qui se faisait: il y'avait tjrs une file pour les étrangers HORS CEDEAO et une file pour CEDEAO y compris les sénégalais. Ou bien voulez-vous dire que les sénégalais ne doivent pas être dans la même file que les autres ressortissants de la CEDEAO? Je vous signale que vous pouvez en tant que Sénégalais débarquer à Abidjan avec votre carte nationale d'identité tout court exactement comme les ivoiriens parce que vous n'avez pas besoin de visa.
Je parle de toutes nationalités hors senegal (cedeao ou pas. je te rappelle que tu ne peux pas voter en cote d'ivoire ou guinée, ni faire avoir certains postes réservés aux nationaux.). Toutefois l'expérience que j'ai vécu un dimanche y avaut une meme file pour tout le monde , meme hors cedeao
C'est pour faire un meilleur triage pour savoir quel policier sera chargé de la bastonnade.

et a quand le fin du raquet sur les routes et de la corruption endemique ? vous avez prévu des box pour ça ?
