Affaire des agents de la mairie de Ziguinchor arrêtés : L’Intersyndicale des travailleurs des collectivités territoriales en première ligne
The Inter-Union of Local Government Workers is supporting the town hall employees arrested after the demolition of a building in the Boucotte-Sindian district, under the mayor's orders.
Indeed, the custody of 10 road workers assigned as municipal police by the mayor has angered the inter-union. According to the person in charge of the demands, "these workers should not be worried."
Aliou Cissé believes that if they had not carried out the mayor's order, this could be considered serious misconduct, seen from the perspective of labor law. "They are agents subordinate to the order received from their administrative authority to carry out a task which would, in the normal order of things, be the responsibility of the town hall."
And even if these officers are at fault, he continued, they are only accomplices. "The main perpetrator is the one who gave the order. If an arrest is to be made, we must arrest those or the one who gave the order to act," he added.
The ten arrested officers were returned to the public prosecutor's office and will spend the night at the central police station.
In the meantime, a lawyer has been appointed by the town hall to defend these agents, while the inter-union is asking the courts to shed light on this matter for everyone.
