To meet the needs of the Mawloud-Al-Nabi, the Thiès Regional Trade Department has established a special brigade. It is composed of all the region's elements. It is an impressive logistical and human resource system, with the notable participation of consumer volunteers.
"After a week, we carried out operations on the ground, in the various sectors of economic activity," Khadim Ndiaye, head of the Thiès regional trade department and chief economic investigations commissioner, told us. This is how, he said, 12 tons of products unfit for consumption were seized, including various food and non-food products.
Food products include broths, drinks, and various other products sold on the market. In addition, non-food products whose sale constitutes a danger were also seized.
Khadim Ndiaye and his team also seized a large batch of paint whose use-by date had long since passed.
The Commissioner for Economic Investigations noted that, as part of its mission to protect consumer health, the Regional Trade Service is working hard during the Gamou period and the results are palpable.
