Réaménagement gouvernemental : Le Mouvement Sonko Dégage avertit Yassine Fall et Me Bamba Cissé
In a statement, the Sonko Dégage Movement denounced the formation of the new government. According to its members, it is a further step in the erasure of the Republic, the rule of law, democracy, and individual freedoms in Senegal.
"We warn the Minister of Justice, Yacine Fall, and the Minister of the Interior, Maître Bamba Cissé, who now bear the responsibility of supporting a political project that is contrary to republican principles," they wrote in the document.
The MSD demands the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, "devoid of any democratic and moral substance, and who now concentrates the government apparatus and the ministries of sovereignty in his hands."
He also warned of the serious consequences of this "authoritarian drift", namely the weakening of republican institutions, increased political and social tensions, the loss of confidence of citizens in their institutions, the increase in the risks of corruption and abuse of power and diplomatic isolation and international criticism.
Faced with this situation, the members call on the Senegalese people, as well as the Diaspora, to resist peacefully to defend the Republic, the rule of law and fundamental freedoms.
"Senegal must not fall into tyranny. Citizen resistance is more than ever a patriotic duty," the statement reads.
